When it comes to your wedding day, you don’t want any details slipping through the crack, including those wedding day detail shots. Not sure what to include in those detail shots? Check out our list of must-have items to have on hand for your photographer day of!

The Rings

The most important items to make sure you have close by on your wedding day are the rings! Make sure you have your engagement ring and both wedding bands tucked away in a safe place before the wedding. You don’t want to make your way down the altar and realize they have been left at home. Plus, they happen to be the centerpiece of any detail shot from your wedding day. You might also choose to include your ring box or a unique small dish to set them in for the photos.

Speaking of jewelry, you will want to include anything you’ll be wearing on your wedding day from earrings to necklaces and lipstick to perfume. This bride choose to have her veil included in the photos to add a bit of texture to the background to make the other details pop. Other items to consider including are your shoes, garter and a few floral clippings left over from your centerpieces.

The Invitation Suite

You will also want to make sure you have your invitation suite to include in your photos as well. This would include your save the date, invitation, response card and the envelope they were mailed in. If you used a wax seal on your envelope, add that to your photos too!

Sentimental Touches

If you have anything special that you will be carrying with you as you walk down the isle, make sure that they make it into your detail shots. This could be a locket with photos of loved ones or a piece of fabric from a family member who has passed. Bonus points if you can add in your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue! If you and your groom decided to exchange a sweet letter or a small gift to each other, make sure you include those sentimental touches as well.

For the Groom

You don’t want to leave your soon-to-be husband out of the photo fun. Some of his items that might be fun to include could be a pocket square, his boutonniere or even his socks if they are special. You’ll want to grab any items he might be carrying with him on your special day as well, like family heirlooms or the watch he only breaks out for special occasions. Don’t forget to pack his cologne, shoes, tie, belt or suspenders, and cuff links for the photo as well.

To be sure nothing gets left behind, set aside all the items you might want to include in the photos before the big day rolls around. Consider placing them all in a box and dedicate one bridesmaid to be in charge of getting those items to the venue and in the photographer’s hands.
