The cashier at Black Prong Equestrian Village (BPEV) should be a high-energy and self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position requires both discretion and candor, exercising good judgment when communicating with others, including employees. As a counter attendant at our food trailer, you’ll be an important part of our customer service team. Working with our executive chef to ensure our customers start their day off right, you’ll greet customers with a smile when they walk up to the trailer and offer assistance with anything they need. This may be starting them out with a hot cup of coffee, answering questions about our delicious, local and organic menu items, or helping them with anything they might need. This role is ideal for friendly, personable workers with a passion for organic food and a desire to share our vision of a sustainable, eco-friendly environment with our customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greet customers as they come into the café and offer your assistance with their orders
  • Ring up food orders and communicate those orders to the kitchen staff, making sure to note any special requests so all items are made correctly
  • Explain menu items to customers with enthusiasm and descriptive language, armed with knowledge about our ingredients so you can convey our commitment to quality, local, organic food sources
  • Offer suggestions for order substitutions for customers with allergies or other dietary restrictions
  • Ensure there is always hot, fresh coffee brewed and ready for customers, keeping the coffee station clean and stocked with cream, sugar and other items
  • Direct customers to anything they need, such as utensils, coffee items, or directions to the restroom
  • Ask customers if they want their order for here or to go, and explain that all to-go orders use our eco-friendly, compostable packaging

Job Qualifications

Facilities Maintenance and Grounds Assistant

The facilities maintenance and grounds assistant at Black Prong Equestrian Village (BPEV) should be a high-energy and self-motivated individual that works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position plays a significant role in keeping all accommodations, buildings, and grounds looking pristine and well-maintained. This position reports directly to the BPEV Operations Director. The facilities maintenance and grounds assistant makes general handyman repairs and improvements to Black Prong’s various buildings and improvements across its 90-acre main property and its feedstore and mini storage locations as well as groundskeeping duties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilizing a task management system- creating and completing open work orders and preventative
    maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Making repairs to signage as requested by the groundskeeping team.
  • Troubleshooting electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing problems in BPEV owned, arenas,
    barns, cottages, feed store mini-storage buildings, pavilion, pool house, rental RV’s, etc.
  • Semi-Annual Pressure cleaning of exterior and interior of barns and buildings etc. Annual touch
    up and re-painting as needed.
  • Small scale roofing repairs.
  • Assisting groundskeeping staff in daily pool and spa care as needed.
  • Troubleshooting appliance problems and repairs as needed.
  • Assisting in event setup and tear down.
  • Woodworking, wallpapering, painting, & dry walling.
  • Troubleshoot and complete minor electrical repairs.
  • Complete other work orders as assigned by supervisor(s).
  • Weeding, mowing, and other yard maintenance.
  • Equipment maintenance, service, and cleaning.
  • Stall pressure washing and disinfecting.
  • Maintain clean workspace and equipment.

The Dishwasher at Black Prong should be a high-energy and self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position requires both discretion and candor, exercising good judgment when communicating with others, including employees. The Dishwasher is a full or part-time position responsible for the cleanliness of the Black Prong Bar & Grill and Galloping Gourmet Food Trailer kitchens, including washing and sanitizing all pots, pans, glassware, dishes, etc., maintaining a clean work area by sweeping mopping, and degreasing all kitchen areas, and removing garbage. This position will also unload dishes, keep items organized in all kitchens, and assist in the preparation of all upcoming Black Prong food-related projects. This position will report to both the Executive Chef and Sous Chef.

  • Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into the dish machine
  • Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine
  • Unload dishes and utensils from the dish machine and organize them properly
  • Empty trash containers regularly
  • Maintain a clean work area and kitchen by sweeping and mopping as needed
  • Perform additional cleaning duties as requested
  • Clean food prep stations and equipment
  • Maintaining the highest sanitary procedures set forth by the Levy County Health Department.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Restaurant or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card
  • Must be able to stand continuously throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving quickly
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Working knowledge of sanitation procedures
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English

The Guest Relations Specialist is the person customers interact with the most and will need to wear many hats to ensure customers receive a premium level of service during their stay. This is a part-time position that reports directly to the Black Prong General Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Exude a friendly, eager-to-please attitude to exceed our guests’ expectations.
  • Make certain guests are having a great experience and that all their needs are being met.
  • Ensure facility waivers are signed by all persons entering resort, and guests with horses have current Coggins and vaccination paperwork on file.
  • Closely monitor the pavilion and pool areas to ensure rules are being followed and safety is top priority.
  • Communicate guests’ arrivals and departures to BPEV staff daily, including housekeeping schedules and other guest-related communications through Upkeep software and email notifications.
  • Verify that all guest rooms and gift baskets are ready for the guest’s arrival.
  • Book reservations in the property management software and update arrivals/departures, process payments, issue guest and staff keys, create stall and paddock cards for guests with horses and give daily deposits to the business manager.
  • Ensure guests with special needs receive the personalized services they deserve.
  • Send weekly or daily email notifications to guests to alert them of new activities, arena use schedules, and forest activities, such as hunting dates and controlled burns
  • Answer phones and ensure leads are tracked in the proper software program
  • Serving as the Black Prong Concierge for Black Prong Guests., Booking on site activities, amenities and dining reservations, recommending off-site but local places to dine, shop, and sight-see to enhance guests’ stay.
  • This includes sales from conveniences store, reservations for Bar & Grill, Pickleball court and electric bicycle (with or without cart for people with disabilities) and the Ride with GPS app available to Black Prong guests.
  • Daily distribution of mail and packages to Guests.
  • Manage the sale and enforcement of guest passes to make use of the Black Prong facility.
  • Assist in main pavilion, pool house and pool deck cleaning, including laundering of pool towels, kitchen towels, Bar & Grill linens (Including pressing) on as needed.
  • Ability to assist housekeeping with preparing accommodations if necessary.
  • Go to the Post Office as needed for mail & package pick up as needed. (Mileage will be paid).
  • Make edits to access time periods for Main gate and other areas on the property.

Job Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of experience working in guest relations or related hospitality role is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate care for others and ability to consistently communicate with guests in a professional, compassionate, and friendly manner.
  • Experience working with business management software and access control applications.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as business email
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with management in person, video call, or email.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and off schedule hours.
