The cashier at Black Prong Equestrian Village (BPEV) should be a high-energy and self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position requires both discretion and candor, exercising good judgment when communicating with others, including employees. As a counter attendant at our food trailer, you’ll be an important part of our customer service team. Working with our executive chef to ensure our customers start their day off right, you’ll greet customers with a smile when they walk up to the trailer and offer assistance with anything they need. This may be starting them out with a hot cup of coffee, answering questions about our delicious, local and organic menu items, or helping them with anything they might need. This role is ideal for friendly, personable workers with a passion for organic food and a desire to share our vision of a sustainable, eco-friendly environment with our customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greet customers as they come into the café and offer your assistance with their orders
  • Ring up food orders and communicate those orders to the kitchen staff, making sure to note any special requests so all items are made correctly
  • Explain menu items to customers with enthusiasm and descriptive language, armed with knowledge about our ingredients so you can convey our commitment to quality, local, organic food sources
  • Offer suggestions for order substitutions for customers with allergies or other dietary restrictions
  • Ensure there is always hot, fresh coffee brewed and ready for customers, keeping the coffee station clean and stocked with cream, sugar and other items
  • Direct customers to anything they need, such as utensils, coffee items, or directions to the restroom
  • Ask customers if they want their order for here or to go, and explain that all to-go orders use our eco-friendly, compostable packaging

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly with fellow workers and guests

  • Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety and hygiene

The Line Cook at Black Prong Equestrian Village (BPEV) should be a high-energy and self-motivated individual that works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position requires both discretion and candor, exercising good judgment when communicating with others including employees. The Line Cook is a full-time position that is responsible for prepping and cooking all fresh menu ingredients for the daily operation of the Galloping Gourmet Food Trailer as well as Black Prong Bar and Grill. The position entails preparing, cooking, and organizing food products. Organizing kitchen wares, as well as morning organizational duties for the Galloping Gourmet Food Trailer. The position will also assist in the preparation of all upcoming Black Prong food-related projects and will report directly to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients then cook and assemble dishes as indicated by recipes
  • Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within the forecasted range
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at workstation and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery
  • Set up and clean station according to restaurant protocol
  • Maintain a clean workstation area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves
  • Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards
  • Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line supervisor, sous-chef, or executive chef
  • Setting up and stocking food stations with the necessary supplies
  • Maintaining the highest sanitary procedures set forth by the Levy County Health Department.

Job Qualifications

  • 1-5 years working in a professional kitchen
  • 1 year catering & banquet experience preferred
  • Moderate to extensive knowledge of different recipes and styles of food production
  • Ability to communicate clearly with fellow workers and guests
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to produce delicious food on tight deadlines
  • Experience working as a prep cook in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety and hygiene
  • Passionate about culinary arts and creative cooking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with general kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Able to follow instructions accurately and efficiently

The Dishwasher / Prep Cook at Black Prong Equestrian Village (EPEV) should be a high-energy and self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position requires both discretion and candor, exercising good judgment when communicating with others, including employees. The Dishwasher / Prep Cook is a full-time position responsible for the cleanliness of the Black Prong and Galloping Gourmet Food Trailer kitchens, including washing and sanitizing all pots, pans, glassware, dishes, etc., maintaining a clean work area by sweeping mopping, and degreasing all kitchen areas, and removing garbage. This position will also unload dishes, keep items organized in all kitchens, and assist in the preparation of all upcoming Black Prong food-related projects. This position will report to both the Executive Chef and Souls Chef.

Job Responsibilities

  • Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into the dish machine
  • Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine
  • Unload dishes and utensils from the dish machine and organize them properly
  • Empty trash containers regularly
  • Maintain a clean work area and kitchen by sweeping and mopping as needed
  • Perform additional cleaning duties as requested
  • Clean food prep stations and equipment

Job Responsibilities: Operations and Events

  • Assist BPEV staff with event preparations for BPEV sanctioned events.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Restaurant or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card
  • Must be able to stand continuously throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving quickly
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Working knowledge of sanitation procedures
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English

Part-time Bartender

The Bartender at Black Prong Equestrian Village (BPEV) should be a high-energy and self-motivated individual that works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position requires both discretion and candor, exercising good judgment when communicating with others including employees.  The Bartender is a part-time position that is responsible for the cleanliness of the Black Prong Bar, creating an engaging atmosphere for guests and providing a high level of service for Bar and Grill Patrons and Special Event guests. The position will also assist in the preparation of catering projects and will report directly to the Executive Chef.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide a pleasant drinking experience to customers.
  • Serve drinks while maintaining a clean and sanitary bar area.
  • Attend to the detail and presentation of each order.
  • Prepare and maintain ingredients by following recipes.
  • Adhere to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures, and maintains appropriate dating,     labeling, and rotation of all beverage items.
  • Coordinate daily supply inventory for bar and submit orders to supervisor, as well as assist with receipt of deliveries.
  • Contribute to daily, holiday, and theme drink menus in collaboration with supervisor.
  • Complete cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules, including dishwashing as needed.
  • Assist with training new employees.
  • Assist with bartending for special events as needed
  • Adhere to all local and national liquor laws
  • Greet guests and take orders in a timely manner
  • Process cash and credit card transactions following appropriate procedures
  • Carry out all tasks with attention to detail, cleanliness, and safety
  • Assist with inventory and inventory control

Job Responsibilities: Operations and Events

Assist BPEV staff with event preparations for BPEV sanctioned events.

Job Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, champagne, and mixed cocktails
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum two (2) years of bar or restaurant experience to include drink preparation
  • Current beverage service certification or other certification as required by federal/state/local law
  • Familiar with point-of-sale computers and software
  • Comfortable using a computer, navigating Windows, Microsoft Office, and Email
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
