Support Wendy Torrel: Hurricane Idalia Survivor
Let's support Wendy Torrel, a dedicated full-time resident of Horseshoe Beach, FL, who tragically lost her home to Hurricane Idalia. Wendy is not only a retired NYPD Law Enforcement Officer and First Responder but also a former UN Peacekeeper who has honorably represented her nation domestically and internationally. Wendy is also a published children's book author.
With aspirations of living out her years immersed in her passion for writing entertaining children's stories, Wendy intends to rebuild and elevate her home to a suitable height above sea level. She had been preparing to raise her home when Hurricane Idalia came ashore. Insurance for coastal properties is often cost-prohibitive such that homeowners either do not purchase insurance or are underinsured. In this case, Wendy is underinsured.
The funds from this GoFundMe campaign will aid Wendy in raising and elevating her home and also assist during this transitional phase by providing essential resources such as a generator, a portable dwelling unit like a tiny house or container home, and necessary electrical and plumbing supplies, among other critical items.
Hello, I'm Anthony Finno and I'm reaching out on behalf of my aunt, Wendy Torrel, who has faced the unthinkable devastation caused by Hurricane Idalia in Horseshoe Beach, FL. This catastrophic storm, with its winds reaching up to 135 mph and a staggering 16-foot storm surge, has destroyed Wendy's home, lifting it off its foundation. FEMA has deemed Wendy's home a total loss.
For decades, Wendy has committed her life to serving her country, her community and youth programs. Now, she needs your help to rebuild her home and her life, better and stronger than ever. Wendy has consistently been there for her community, aiding others even in the face of adversity. It's our turn to support her during this trying time.
All donations and contributions will be utilized directly for:
Rebuilding and Elevating Wendy's Home: Our primary goal is to ensure Wendy’s house is rebuilt and elevated to guard against future storms, giving her a safe space she deserves. The funds from this campaign will aid Wendy during this transitional phase and purchase a generator, a portable dwelling like a tiny house or container home, and necessary electrical and plumbing supplies, among other critical items.
Your assistance is not just about reconstructing a physical structure – it's a testament to the resilient spirit of Horseshoe Beach, ensuring one of its treasured community members can once again stand proud and strong.
Let's Come Together.
We urge you to share this campaign to reach benevolent individuals willing to support Wendy's rebuilding efforts. Every donation, share, and prayer is invaluable. United, we can champion the spirit of resilience and ensure Wendy, and the beautiful Horseshoe Beach community, emerge stronger. Today, let's be there for her.
Thank you. π
