What You’ll Experience

A Hilltop Introduction to Oak Ridge

Your morning begins at the center’s panoramic hilltop viewing stand, where you’ll take in a sweeping vista of the one-mile dirt track and the 7/8-mile turf course—the same tracks where many of the nation’s most accomplished racehorses first learned to stretch out and run. Some of the sport’s modern legends started their careers here, including:

  • Sierra Leone – 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, nose-second in the 2024 Kentucky
Derby, and an earner of $8.1 million.
  • Tepin – International champion with $4.4 million in earnings.
  • Blind Luck – Earned $3.3 million after being purchased as a yearling for just $11,000.

Visit to a Working Training Barn

Next, your guide brings you into one of the Oak Ridge barns, where you’ll meet the horses up close. Step inside an authentic training environment and learn from the trainers, riders, and grooms who devote their lives to the health and advancement of these remarkable athletes.

Trackside: Watch the Horses You Just Met Train

You’ll then move to the trackside viewing stand, arriving just in time to watch the horses you’ve met head out for their morning training sessions. Here you’ll be introduced to Steve Woods, Oak Ridge Track Superintendent, who joined in 2025 after acclaimed tenures at Del Mar and Santa Anita—two of the nation’s premier racecourses and frequent hosts of the Breeders’ Cup.

Guests can book their tour experience by contacting the office or accessing the booking portal through their guest pre-arrival emails.
