The 4th of July Should Feel Like a Celebration, Not a Crisis

For millions of pet owners and horse people across the country, Independence Day brings a familiar knot of anxiety. Fireworks that light up the sky for humans can send dogs into a spiral of fear, hiding, panting, bolting, and cause horses to spook dangerously in their stalls. If you’ve spent a Fourth of July managing a terrified animal instead of enjoying the holiday, you know exactly what we mean.

We want to offer a different kind of Independence Day: one that’s genuinely peaceful, relaxing, and welcoming to every member of your family, four-legged ones included.

Black Prong Is a Fireworks-Free Property

horse in paddock at black prong resort, horse riding stables in Black ProngBlack Prong Equestrian Village, nestled on 90 acres in Bronson, Florida, maintains a strict no-fireworks policy on the property. We are committed to the safety of our guests, their animals, and the land we’re privileged to call home.

We sit directly adjacent to the Goethe State Forest, a 53,000-acre expanse of longleaf pine, wetlands, and wildlife habitat. Fireworks near a forest of that scale carry real fire risk, and we take our responsibility as stewards of this landscape seriously. Beyond the environmental concern, our guests come here specifically for quiet and calm. Unexpected explosions in the night sky don’t belong here, and we mean that wholeheartedly.

So on July 4th, when the rest of North Central Florida lights up, Black Prong stays still, dark, and peaceful. Your horse will rest quietly in the stall. Your dog will sleep without trembling. And you’ll actually be able to relax.

Built for Horses, Built for Dogs, Built for the Holiday

Black Prong has welcomed horses and dogs from the very beginning. Our cottages feature private attached stables so your horse is just steps from your door. Guests in our cabins and RV pads have easy access to our shared barns, each equipped with matted stalls, wash racks, and climate-controlled tack rooms. Spacious grass paddocks are included with every stall rental.

Our accommodations are pet-friendly, and we have no breed or size restrictions.  Our on-site dog park gives your pup room to run and play in a fenced, safe environment- no leash anxiety, no crowds, no chaos.

Want Fireworks? We’ve Got You Covered for That Too.

For some guests, watching a fireworks show is part of the holiday tradition. The great news is that North Central Florida puts on some spectacular displays within easy driving distance of Black Prong, and 2026 is a particularly big year as the country celebrates America’s 250th anniversary. Here are several nearby shows to consider:
