Wekiva River Water Sports Coming to Black Prong in November

This November, Black Prong guests will be able to experience the wild, unspoiled magic of Old Florida from the water. Our newest addition—a 2025 23’ Bennington pontoon boat — can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests for guided excursions on the Wekiva and Waccasassa Rivers.

Gliding beneath cathedral canopies of cypress and live oak, guests will witness the landscape University of Florida Professor Jack Davis so evocatively described in his 2018 Pulitzer Prize-winning book Gulf: a timeless, teeming sanctuary where alligators lurk beneath duckweed and herons stalk in silver stillness. The river is your path into Florida’s ancient heart.

For the more adventurous, kayaks will also be available, offering an intimate paddle through this lush world of tangled mangroves, sun-dappled clearings, and winding blackwater trails.

Black Prong is proud to offer our guests this immersive new way to explore the region’s natural heritage—one that evokes the rhythm, beauty, and serenity of a bygone Florida.
